Olympik Style Martial Arts Studio (OSMAS) was established in St. Louis, Missouri in 1989 by Master Michael T. Gaston, Shichidan (7th Dan Black Belt). Master Gaston received his training from Grand Master Dan McManness,  Judan (10th Dan Black Belt), at Cobra Karate Club. After the doors to Cobra Karate Club closed, due to unforseen circumstances, Master Gaston knew the teachings of Grand Master McManness must continue and his desire to teach prompted him to open Olympik Style Martial Arts Studio. Master Gaston decided on the name as he considered the Olympics to be the center of the highest recognition for athletes. With this in mind he wanted his students to receive the very best training in the martial arts regardless of race or gender, thus naming the studio. Although the art of Tae Kwon Do is the official martial art of the Olympic’s the name was adopted with the changing of the spelling, replacing the "c" with a "k" to represent the art of Kenpo Karate, which is what is taught here at Olympik Style Martial Arts Studio. Along with offering the best martial arts training possible Master Gaston wanted to provide a family atmosphere, which he considered to be an integral part of martial arts. After all the history of the martial arts will show that they were "family arts", that were only passed down by family members to other family members. And we continue to practice this today, we are not just students but we consider each other to be family as well. Although the doors to Olympik Style Martial Arts Studio closed in 1998, due to unforseen circumstances, the doors were re-opened in 2007.
